The Yellow Wall-Paper
The part that I found the most striking in the story "The yellow wall-paper", was when the narrator described the wall-paper as a depressing and uncomfortable design. The narrator explained in many paragraphs her feelings about the yellow wall-paper, but there was one in specific that caught my attention and it was when she said "I'm getting really fond of the room in spite of the wall-paper. Perhaps because of the wall-paper". Those words seems to be a positive description to the wall-paper. However, when the reader pay close attention to them, it could be found the sarcastically definition that the narrator was making. Moreover, it was so obvious the dislike for that yellow wall-paper in
the big room, that sometimes she just wanted to lose herself by writing
a little. As she explained, "it would relive the press of ideas and
rest me" but she was not able to even try it, she got tired easily.
On the other hand, the narrator pointed out that there were many beautiful things inside the house and outside the house to look at. For example, she described the colonial mansion as "the most beautiful place!" And then she emphasized that the garden looked wonderful with those colorful roses. But that yellow wall-paper was the only uncomfortable thing that she was able to contemplate. As a result, she described as a "horrible paper".
