                                                      Read To Write

According to many people, the more you read, the more knowledge you get. However, I believe that not only the reading helps people to get more notion of the different situations that are going up around them, but the writing as well. To me both, reading and writing, have a powerful meaning to the human brain.  They just go together.

By writing you can express yourself in many different ways. People use pencils, pens, words, letters and paper every single day. It could be in school while writing an assignment, at work sending a letter to your boss or in any other situation. But most of the time people don’t know the meaning to it. However, for writers, is a totally different story. It’s to go beyond than a pencil with the piece of paper, or than letters and words. To them, the use of a pen and a piece of paper is to move from one place to another. To give meaning to that spirit that no one is able to see. For writers, to write is the most powerful thing under their position.  It’s to identify themselves with that little world, that little space in where only they belong. As Williams Faulkner, an American writer and Nobel Prize laureate, explained, “Story usually begins with a single idea or memory or mental picture. The writing of the story is simply a matter of working up to that moment, to explain why it happened or what it caused to follow. A writer is trying to create believable people in credible moving situations in the most moving way”. Basically, what he says is that you who know how to write need to put words in a way that people can understand the mean of it.  Explain to them the situation so they can see beauty of writing.

In addition, writing to me is to unlock many doors to your thoughts, lead them free to go wherever they want to go. However, it’s not that simple. When I first started to write down things was because my professors “forced me” to do so. In fact, I didn’t like to write at all.  But when I decided to pay attention to the meaning of writing, I could understand that writing is more than just say something to someone else. It’s to express your feelings in a different angle. To say whatever you have to say and whenever you want to say it. Because the time that you choose to write, that is the right and perfect time to do so.

On the other hand, to me, the reading part has a powerful meaning and helps people’s writing skills and knowledge as well. Why do I believe so? Because in the reading world there are so many complicated words that sometimes at first you can’t understand and to be able to understand them, you have to write them down. And this is the connection between reading and writing. One helps you to improve the other one. In other words, reading helps you to see writing differently. It forces you to be better in your writing, because it gives more knowledge about situation in life that you may didn’t even think about. As a result, this is why I called this assignment “Read to Write” because you can’t get a good understanding of the writing unless you read.

To conclude this assignment, to me writing  means to be able to express myself the way I want to without hiding any thoughts. And it means a lot to me because sometimes I’m afraid to say thing s in public but while I write I don’t have that feeling. Through writing I feel free.
